1935

24 lipca

The company "Zakopane-Kasprowy Wierch Cableway Construction and Operation Association" is established, popularly known as "Linkolkasprowy". Its biggest shareholders were the Polish National Railways and the Gdansk Shipyard. The originator and propagator of the construction was Aleksander Bobkowski, the then director of the Polish National Railways, president of the Polish Ski Association and most of all, the Minister of Transport

Beginning of construction of the Kasprowy Wierch cableway. The construction took only 227 days

26 lutego

The first run of the cableway along the lower section from Kuźnice to Myślenickie Turnie

15 marca

The first train of the cableway enters the peak of Kasprowy Wierch.  The official launch of the PKL for tourists and skiers, and the first cableway in Poland

8 lipca

President Ignacy Moscicki and his wife Maria visited the Kasprowy Wierch cableway after construction.  I experienced extraordinary emotions - Ignacy Moscicki wrote in the memorial book at the peak of Kasprowy Wierch

Following the technical, organizational and financial success of the cableway to Kasprowy Wiech, the activists of the Tourism Support League led by Aleksander Bobkowski, the Krynica City Council, the spa authorities and the Ministry of Transport, formed a limited liability company “Cableway in Krynica", which undertook to implement the earlier project from 1932, of building a cable-funicular railway to the Góra Parkowa

Launch of the first cable-funicular railway in Poland, going to Góra Parkowa in Krynica. Its construction was commissioned by the Tourism Support League

1 lipca

The Tourism Support League has made efforts to obtain a concession for the construction of a cableway to Gubałówka in Zakopane

Launch of the Gubałówka cable-funicular way. The construction was completed after 168 days

Already after the first season, the builders and operators of the cableway to Kasprowy Wierch knew that the investment was 100% successful. One problem was the stopping of skiers in the Kasprowy area. The proposed solution was to build a lift that would allow more use of the ski resorts in the Kasprowy circuses. The first one was located in the Gąsienicowy Circus. The device consisted of two pairs of 16-seat sledges, mounted on a single cord driven by an electric motor. One sledge with the skiers went up while the other, usually empty, came down

The lift was 300 meters long and covered a 125 m height difference at a slope of up to 70 degrees. It provided a lot of emotions, but was completely safe, and was driven by an employee

1939

1 września

During World War II, the Kasprowy cableway was managed by the German Ostbahn branch in Krakow, while the cable-funicular way to Gubałówka and Góra Parkowa went under the management of municipal services

The eagle carved in a copper plate was on the wall of the upper station of Kasprowy Wierch throughout the war, and it is still there today

The first passenger course to the peak of Kasprowy Wierch in liberated Poland

2 marca

Commissioning of the single-seat chairlift in Gąsienicowy Circus at Kasprowy Wierch. It replaced the old sledge lift.

After 31 winter seasons, the single-seat chairlift was replaced by a comfortable four-passenger train

1968

14 grudnia

The cableway with double chairs in Kasprowy Wierch's Goryczkowy Circus of the Kasprowy Wierch was started, and remains in operation to this day.

Cableway length - 1624.5 m, height difference - 602 m, carrying capacity 730 persons/h

1977

4 lutego

The Butorowy Wierch cable car was started. During the first few winter seasons, the slope of Butorowy Wierch was the most popular ski resort of Zakopane and was used by mid-level skiers. The route was about 1600 m long, with 277 m difference in height

Currently in the summer season, tourists are coming to Gubałówka and can take a stroll to Butorowy, admiring the beautiful views of the Tatras along the way. The 15-minute ride down provides unforgettable views of the Western Tatras

1991

A real breakthrough in the history of Szczawnica has been the construction of a chair lift to Palenica (722 m). The cableway originally included 126 double chairs, the skiers had two downhill runs from the top. The investment turned out to be a real success

Official opening of the Palenica cableway in Szczawnica

Launch of Poland's first gravity-cart slide at Gubałówka

The second gravity-cart slide in Poland is launching at Palenica in Szczawnica

2000

In 2000, the construction of the new Gąsienicowa cableway began, which now takes skiers in four-seat chairs, increasing the capacity to 2400 people per hour.

18 grudnia

Putting into operation the four-seater cableway and chair-lift at Hala Gąsienicowa, which, despite very difficult alpine conditions and being created in the Tatra National Park, was built in only 202 days

2001

Reconstruction of the cable-funicular way at Gubałówka. Complete refitting of the whole technology was carried out. After 112 days of construction, a new cableway, one of the most modern in the world, has been launched, with almost twice the capacity - up to 2000 people per hour.

A new cableway has launched, with a modern look and technically speaking - one of the best in the world

2003

After only seven months of construction, a cable-funicular way was built on the Żar Mountain in Międzybrodzie Żywieckie, whose yellow carts (formerly used in Gubałówka) hold up to 115 people at a time and can take up to 1100 people per hour.

2004

14 lutego

Launch of a new tourist/ski resort on Góra Żar in Międzybrodzie Żywieckie. A cable-funicular train was put into service, two railway stations were built from scratch, as well as a ski route with the snow and light infrastructure of the route

2005

Modernization of the chairlift to Palenica in Szczawnica

2006

21 stycznia

A fully modern, 4-seater chairlift to Palenica was put into operation in Szczawnica, which is part of the entire ski, tourist and recreational complex

2006

24 czerwca

The Minister of the Environment approves the modernization of the cableway to Kasprowy Wierch, provided that the summer capacity of about 180 persons per hour is maintained

2007

15 grudnia

The modernized cableway at Kasprowy Wierch is put into operation 

2008

18 stycznia

The consecration ceremony of the cable car to Kasprowy Wierch, attended by President Lech Kaczyński and his wife. The consecration was made by Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz

2010

The Mosorny Groń Tourist and Ski Resort in Zawoja, located at the foot of Babia Góra, is included in the PKL's offer.

Start of the first ski season under the Polish Cableways

2013

The Jaworzyna Krynicka resort, the largest ski station in the Beskid Sądecki and one of the largest stations in Poland, is included in PKL's offer.
