Highlander leisure

Zakopane is a paradise for lovers of highland culture and cuisine. Where, if not in the Tatra Mountains, can you taste the original oscypki, sheep cheese and a true kwaśnica (sour soup)?

The surroundings of Gubałówka are a place where highlander folklore is present every day. At the bottom station there are many stores and a market offering folklore trinkets and souvenirs. Here you can buy shepherd's axes, highland ornaments and lots of souvenirs with the logo of Zakopane. At the market, Highlanders sell sheepskin and wool products. Only here you can get real woolen socks, which will come in handy both while skiing, and during winter walks.

Relax in holiday resorts:

Near Gubałówka and Kasprowy, fatigued skiers and snowboarders will find many local taverns built in the highlander style. They are dominated by the cuisine of Podhale and regional music, creating an amazing atmosphere. Those guests who got cold will be warmed by the richly embellished sour soup and hot tea (Highlander style, of course). After that, it is necessary to try our Tatra specialties: bryjki, hałuski, moskole and shepherds' products: żentyca, bundza (bunca) and oscypki. The latter are made in Zakopane at least in several ways. You can buy virtually everywhere, including the peak of Gubałówka. They are the perfect snack for skiers during relaxation.

While in Podhale, you cannot miss folklore events and festivals, which are held very often in the capital of the Polish Tatras. Highland bands play for guests in the evenings in taverns and in the summer there are also plenty of outdoor events. Among the beautiful setting of snow-capped peaks, such events will last long in your memory and bring back a smile to your face, like souvenirs brought from the Tatra Mountains.
