Gubałówka is a unique and iconic place located right in the heart of Zakopane.
The hill ranks number one for check-ins in travel apps among tourists visiting Zakopane. You can reach the very top of Gubałówka by the PKL funicular railway. Although the ride takes only a few minutes, the carriage offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes and the peaks of the Tatra Mountains.
Gubałówka is an excellent place for fun and relaxation. It attracts visitors with unforgettable views of the Tatras and its strong musical traditions. It gained popularity as early as the 1930s. Even then, on every sunny winter day, people took the PKL funicular up the hill not only for skiing, but also to enjoy the sunny “mountain beach.” In summer, tourists and locals celebrated so-called “five o’clock” parties—evening events with live music.
During the summer holidays, Gubałówka transforms into the highest-located beach in Poland. Comfortable deckchairs invite visitors to relax, unwind, recharge, and admire beautiful Tatra views. The hill also features a gravity slide, with carts reaching speeds of around 20 km/h.
In winter, Gubałówka turns into the magical Land of Light—the highest-located illuminated park in Poland. Ski enthusiasts can enjoy a 300-meter ski slope with a drag lift, while thrill-seekers can try a specially shaped snowtubing run. Visitors can also enjoy delicious food at Bistro Stacja Samku,Restauracja Widokówka and Cafe Gubałówka offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Tatra Mountains.
