The full range of activities that can be done on Mount Żar makes it impossible to miss it while hiking. Whether a longer backpack trip or an afternoon hike with your family, reaching the peak of Mount Żar is a must. There are many restaurants, souvenir shops and a hydro power plant (which is open to tourists).
From the top of Mount Żar, many paths lead us into the peace and quiet of the Beskidy. It's hard to get lost here – all trails are well marked and easy to follow even for inexperienced hikers. The black trail descends to Międzybrodzie Żywieckie, while the red one brings us to Porąbka or the Kocierska Pass. In summer you can meet many cyclists here – it's one of their favourite climbs in the area. From the centre of Międzybrodzie you can also go to the opposite mountain range. You can climb up to Czupel and the shelter for Magurka Wilkowicka (following blue signs from Czernichów) and a cave called the Dragon's Den located on the trail. From Żarnówka Mała you can move on towards the Hrobacza Łąka summit and passing through the ridge, get to the town of Bielsko-Biała. Many of these routes are also available for mountain bikers. To ride there, you need to be in good shape and be a capable mountain biker.
For less experienced hikers, a stroll in the Beskidy forest should be a pleasant pastime. No need to climb uphill – the cable car gets you there in a few minutes. Going up, you can admire the revealing beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the dam in Porąbka. In summer, the sun sparkles beautifully in the waves of the two lakes lying at the foot of Mount Żar. This is one of the few places where you can enjoy both being close to the water and mountains.
