FAQ Kasprowy Wierch

Full of impressions from Kasprowy, are you looking for other inspiring places in the area? Don't leave Kuźnice! We invite you to the restored Manor and Park Complex, where there is an outdoor photo exhibition and a nature exhibition. There's a lot to see!

During the season, the cable car leaves every 10 minutes, and if there are not too many volunteers - every 30 minutes. You'll just have time to drink your coffee before you leave.

During the holidays you have a unique opportunity to admire the views in the rays of the setting sun. Only in July and August, the last entry to the mountain is at 19.00. Believe us, the sunset over the Tatra Mountains is a truly otherworldly phenomenon worth seeing!

Admire the views, because they are really amazing, drink tea or coffee in a restaurant at almost 2000 m above sea level. We recommend our application for smartphones and tablets, which will guide you around Kasprowy and draw you into the world of amazing nature and adventures.

You can check the current forecast and the view from the camera on the top at www.pkl.pl (cameras tab). Sometimes it will also be useful to have something to protect from the wind and rain. The weather in the mountains is capricious and changes quickly...

PKL loves all animals, but unfortunately the dog has to stay in Zakopane. The railway operates in the Tatra National Park, which prohibits the introduction of domestic animals for the sake of the welfare of those living in the wild.

First of all, good shoes. Walking on stones in flip-flops, sandals and high heels is really not pleasant. Be sure to bring something warm to wear as well. The temperature at the top is lower by a few or several degrees than in Zakopane. Short sleeves may not be enough.

Leave the car in Zakopane (the nearest car park is located on Karłowicza Street) and use public transport - it's the fastest way to get around Zakopane. You can also park along the Bronislawa Czecha street.

Beautiful weather, tourpass bought? Are you ready for a trip to the Tatra Mountains? It's time to go to Kuźnice, where the lower station of the cable car to Kasprowy is located. You cannot reach Kuźnice by car (the road is closed to traffic), but there is public transport (there is a stop under the railway). You can also take a walk - it takes about 40 minutes (from traffic circle Jana Pawła II). But beware! You have to be in Kuźnice 15 minutes before the departure time indicated on the ticket!

Halny (specific strong wind) thwarted the plans? Sometimes the cable car does not run due to strong winds (all for the safety of tourists). If you have a tour pass, and today the wind blows so much that it wants to rip your head off, you can return it. You will receive 100% of the price back. Unfortunately, no one has won against nature yet.

The Tourpass is your pass to the cable car to Kasprowy, containing everything necessary to go up (or down). It consists of the fare, all additional fees (such as, for example, a seat in the car) and the entrance to the Tatra National Park.

It is unique because you can buy it only when traveling by cable car to Kasprowy! It is also simple to use. With a tourpass in your pocket, you don't have to worry about anything! Thanks to it, you will surely find your place in the car.

Do you want to ensure a safe return by cable car? Choose a round-trip tour. If you choose this option, the system will automatically set the return time. Unfortunately, it cannot be changed. You will spend 1 hour and 40 minutes at the top.

You don't know yet whether you will return on foot or by cable car? You can buy a return tourpass at the ticket office of the upper station - and only there!

Many tourists buy them at the ticket office at the lower station, which is why there is often a long queue of people waiting (note, there are fewer people in the afternoon!). Don't waste your time and buy the tourpass in advance at ticket machines in Zakopane, online (www.pkl.pl) or at the Customer Service Office at the lower station of the cable railway to Gubałówka. With the tourpass in hand, you immediately get into the carriage.

If you will not use any of the options above, visit the Customer Service Office in Kuźnice and ask for express entry. You can buy a tourpass without standing in line.

If you do not want to overwork yourself, we recommend reaching the Kasprowy peak and walking to the Meteo Observatory. It is the highest situated building in Poland! Weather permitting, the tour will take approximately 20 minutes round trip.

If you are looking for further routes, go towards the top of the Beskid Mountains, which is a great vantage point for Kasprowy, Dolina Cicha and Stawki Gąsienicowe. You will get there in about 30-40 minutes (round trip it will take about an hour). You can also go down on foot to Kuźnice. The route is easy, there are plenty of trails to choose from, and along the way there are shelters where you can rest. It's a slightly longer trip - you'll be down there in about 3 hours.

People with limited mobility can also enter Kasprowy, because the Tatra Mountains are for everyone! Both the station and the cable car are adapted to their needs. A special parking space has been prepared under the lower station, and the building has an elevator that will help them get to the platform. If necessary, you can always count on the help of PKL employees.

Upstairs, the disabled can visit the observation deck with deckchairs and a restaurant. The trails are mountainous, rocky and difficult to navigate. For more information, call (+48)18 20 20 300.

We are happy when children from an early age get to know the beautiful Tatra nature. Parents can go to the top with a pram - we do not charge any extra fees for it. We kindly ask you to fold the stroller before boarding the cable car, if possible.

Upstairs, with a pram, you can move freely between the observation deck (with sun loungers) and the restaurant. The hiking trails are mountainous - they are rocky and uneven. Walking around them with a toddler in a stroller can be difficult.

Yes and no. Each tourpass is purchased for a specific time. This is a guarantee that at that time there will be a place in the queue that will take you safely up or down. If you want to return earlier, ask the employees of the upper station if it is possible. It happens that some tourists decide to go down on foot or are late for their course. Then you can use the free space.

Are you worried that you will be bored during a trip to the mountains? We have prepared a mobile application especially for you. Thanks to it, you will learn the history of the cable car, find out what peaks can be seen on the horizon and face the Tatra quest. It will also lead you along the trails around Kasprowy. Download it for free from the App Store and Google Play.

Get on the cable car and start a great adventure. The trip to Kasprowy Wierch (1987m above sea level) takes about 15 minutes. There is one stop in the middle of the way - at Myślenickie Turnie - you will have to change cars. If you have purchased a round-trip Tourpass, your cable car will return to the bottom station in 1 hour and 40 minutes. That's plenty of time to explore the area!
